Marvel's Avengers is qualification levelling... grindier?
It's no secret that Marvel's Avengers has been far from the big winner that Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix may have hoped for. Designed with a full singleplayer campaign and a multiplayer-convergent endgame attached to give it a long tail, Avengers was halfway decent but simply didn't have enough in that respect to exert players' interest.
Personally I found the endgame got very dull, very quickly. As part of the game's next major update, which sees Hawkeye arrive on March 18 (another problem with Marvel's Avengers: the DLC insofar has focused on the to the highest degree boring characters), the game's levelling organisation and loot is being completely reworked. And IT's being changed in a way that suggests the future for this game—as has seemed inevitable for a spell—may be sovereign-to-play.
A blogpost innocently titled 'Upcoming Cosmetic and XP Retread' has the tax of explaining to current players who've paid for the game why things are approximately to get a spate more grindy. It begins by saying that the current levelling curve is non very a curve, and players level at a steady rate, so couplet yourself: "This has led to pacing issues, such as acquirement points presently being rewarded too fast, which Crataegus oxycantha be confusing and overwhelming to newer players. We deficiency each decision to empower in a skill or Desperate to be Sir Thomas More purposeful."
This does not align with my experience of the spunky at each, and I doubtfulness many would agree with the above. In fact Avengers atomic number 3 it stood already had something of a dweeb to it, whereby you earned basic skills for each character relatively quickly, but then had quadruplex subsidiary acquisition-trees to sink spear carrier points into and customize your playstyle. This change bequeath growth the amount of XP needed to level up "starting from around level 25. This amount will increase the closer you develop to level 50 so that it will take longer to reach higher levels, and testament only touch on character horizontal surface, not mightiness level."
So... that sucks!
In addition to this, the in-game cosmetics, long a bone of disceptation among its playerbase, are being reworked. The post is not lechatelierite-clear (b'dum thyrotropic hormone) nigh exactly what's happening here, though says "the finish [is] providing more player agency and clarity near how to obtain them by removing stochasticity from the process."
Random drops have thus been disabled in-game, and various items have temporarily disappeared until they're ready to coming back to the cosmetic vendor which will be "reworked in upcoming updates and will be dishonest with Units. This will directly affect random chance cosmetic rewards from complementary activities (Missions and Strongboxes) and eccentric progression (Hero Tear down and Faction Level). Numerous patterns will also be temporarily unfit from dropping and in some cases replaced with extra Units that can be spent at the cosmetic vender."
The TL;DR version of this is that these changes are exactly what you'd expect from a courageous that is looking to arrive at a pivot man to spare-to-play and needs to change-up its reward economy in preparation. That naturally is precisely my meditation and nix official has been said, but the nature of these things is that the companies up to their necks will deny information technology redress up until information technology happens. Making the levelling slower, completely re-working an end game cosmetic system that wasn't doing anything to keep players engaged... you Don River't need to turn the page to see where this one's going, true believers.
